Who We Are

Athina Fassu, Chair

Athina Fassu is a seasoned legislative and public affairs professional with a strong record of service in New Jersey state government. She currently serves as Deputy Director of Legislative Affairs in the Office of Governor Phil Murphy, where she helps drive the administration’s legislative agenda, liaises with lawmakers and stakeholders, and provides strategic policy guidance.

Athina previously served as Legislative Director to Assemblyman Wayne DeAngelo and Legislative Aide to Assemblyman Anthony Verrelli, where she played a critical role in advancing legislative initiatives and managing constituent engagement. Her career began with the Middlesex County Democratic Organization in 2017 where she assisted staff with campaign efforts. A year later, she worked as an Administrative Assistant for the New Jersey Assembly Democrats, where she supported staff members in research, communications, and session coordination.

In addition to her public service roles, Athina is deeply involved in Democratic Party leadership and civic engagement. She is President of the Mercer County Young Democrats, where she rebuilt and grew the organization, and serves on the Mercer County Democratic Committee as Young Dem Liaison. She also sits on the Board of the Women’s Political Caucus of New Jersey.

Athina earned her degree in Political Science from Rider University, where she was active in student leadership, Model United Nations, and honor societies. Her work has been recognized with several awards, including the Mercer County Democratic Committee’s Young Leader of the year and SNJ Millennials’ 30 Under 30, and Pam’s List Women Who Get it Done.

Brianna Hill, Vice Chair

Brianna has previously served as a member of the Executive Board for two terms, the first as the Outreach Chair as well as the Events Chair.

Brianna currently works at the New Jersey Economic Development Authority as a Team Lead for Economic Equity. She previously held a position as Vice President at the Advocacy and Management Group in Trenton for seven years.

She also serves in the Mercer County Commission on the Status of Women and the RWJ Hamilton Young Professionals Group.

Brianna is a life long Mercer resident, having moved back to her hometown in Hamilton where she currently resides with her son, Parker and husband, Sasha.

Rosie Driscoll, Secretary

Rosie Driscoll is a lifelong New Jerseyan, raised in Ocean County and currently residing in Lawrence Township. She serves as Director of Policy, Legislative Services, and Constituent Relations at the New Jersey Department of Health. Previously, she held roles in outreach and advocacy with the United States Senate and the Planned Parenthood Action Fund of New Jersey.

Rosie expects to receive a Master of Public Administration from the University of Pennsylvania in Spring 2027. She earned her Bachelor’s degree magna cum laude in History and in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies from The College of New Jersey, graduating with honors in History. She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and a proud alumna of TCNJ’s Women in Learning and Leadership program. Her undergraduate work earned the Paul A. Stellhorn Undergraduate Paper in New Jersey History Award from the New Jersey Studies Academic Alliance and First Prize at the New Jersey Women’s Studies Consortium Annual Undergraduate Research Conference.

Rosie has been recognized on Insider NJ’s Out 100 LGBTQ Power List. In her free time, she enjoys mentoring students interested in public service through TCNJ’s Campus to Capitol Mentorship Program, playing recreational softball, and hiking in New Jersey’s parks.

Marvin James, Political Chair

Marvin James, a devoted resident of Mercer County throughout his life, proudly hails from Ewing. He holds an impressive educational background, having completed his studies at Ewing High School and later graduating from William Paterson University. Marvin currently serves as an international organizer for Afscme International, where his dedication knows no bounds.

Prior to his current role, Marvin gained valuable experience as a union staff representative at Afscme Council 63. During this time, he advocated for the rights and well-being of union members, effectively ensuring their voices were heard. Additionally, Marvin contributed his expertise as a legislative aide to Assemblyman Anthony S. Verrelli. In this capacity, he skillfully handled constituent services, actively engaged in community outreach projects, and played a vital role in supporting government affairs initiatives.

Further showcasing his breadth of experience, Marvin served as a Government Affairs Associate at Komjathy and Kean Government Affairs. With a keen understanding of the political landscape, he effectively navigated the complexities of governmental affairs, demonstrating his exceptional skills in the field. Marvin's diverse background and unwavering commitment to public service make him a valuable asset in any endeavor he undertakes.

Jordan Lewis, Outreach Chair

Jordan Lewis is a dedicated public servant and community leader, currently serving as the Executive Vice President of the New Jersey Young Democrats and Outreach Chair for the Mercer County Young Democrats. Professionally, he is the District Director for Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman, proudly representing New Jersey’s 12th Congressional District. In this role, he oversees constituent services, district-wide programming, and legislative initiatives. Jordan began his journey in public service as a Constituent Services Representative and Internship Coordinator in the same office.

A 2014 graduate of Johnson C. Smith University, Jordan earned a bachelor’s degree in Criminology with a minor in Pre-Law. From 2015 to 2018, he worked as a Behavior Modification Technician for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System, supporting at-risk K–12 students. In 2022, he completed a Master of Public Affairs and Administration at Rutgers University–Newark. Jordan is proud to be the third in his family to earn a bachelor’s degree and the first to earn a master’s.

Jordan’s leadership extends to national initiatives. In 2020, he was named an Alumnus of the Congressional Black Caucus Institute (CBCI). Since 2019, he has served as a District Agent for the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation (CBCF), where he supports internship, scholarship, and fellowship programs that empower emerging leaders—something he’s passionate about from personal experience.

A proud brother of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, Jordan served as Political Action Chair and Social Action Chair for the Zeta Iota Lambda Chapter from 2018 to 2022. He was recently selected as a 2025 Fellow of the New Jersey Leaders Collective (NJLC), where he looks forward to gaining new tools, networks, and resources to continue his growth as a leader and advocate across the state.

Jordan resides in Ewing Township, NJ, and enjoys giving back through public service, volunteering with veteran programs, and supporting local political campaigns.

Larry Traylor, Treasurer

Larry is currently the Aide for Mercer County Commissioner Samuel T Frisby Sr. Before joining the Commissioner Board, Larry worked on the Murphy 2021 Reelection Campaign as a Compliance Associate and volunteered with Assemblyman Dan Benson’s office. He is currently the Treasurer of the Mercer County Young Democrats and a member of the 2023 class of New Leaders Council. His future goals are to attend graduate school and study socio-economic inequalities that can help improve the conditions of the most marginalized within our society. Larry graduated from Rutgers University-New Brunswick in 2020, where he studied Political Science and African American Studies.
